Rock Concerts! Real Explicit Sex! What could go wrong?
Well, it feels fragmented. There is very little cohesion to the story, it tries to explore a couple's relationship via their sex life, which is an admirable and ballsy way to do it, but I don't think it succeeds at what its trying to do.
There is only a few different things that happen: there is a concert, the couple have sex, or the couple talks together. Or the man reminisces about the relationship. That's it. Clocking in at a little over an hour, it still feels kind of long.
The sex scenes certainly are explicit, but they are tastefully done. One thing this movie got right is the visuals. The lighting is beautiful, which is especially stunning considering the whole movie was shot on DV. Very pretty movie, lots of eye candy, but it ultimately feels a bit hollow. It needed more character development to truly engage the viewer on an emotional level rather than a visceral one.
Also, the only musical acts I cared for were Franz Ferdinand and Michael Nyman. Some of the concert scenes had lighting that I thought was going to give me a seizure, or at least a bad headache.
